Natural link building
Firstly, let me introduce how we could divide any link building. The first and also the worst link building campaign is automated submission. There are many products promising guaranteed results, but in my experience, manual work is better in this case. Another method how to get inbound links, is manual directory submission. This works and I recommend it. Personally, I’m using this technique, because it’s very fast way how to obtain numerous links. Even though you can get many links, there is an empty place which is called ‘natural links’.
Natural links usually exists on the related sites, on the sites which reffer to their friends and so on. Basically, there are two ways how to manage natural links campaigns. At first, you can register at any ‘free link exchange’ type site. Naturally, you will get requests from sites which aren’t related to the your ones. On the other hand, you should get really good link exchange requests. The second option is sending emails and asking the webmasters for a link. Generally, this is the hardest SEO and I recommend to do it very wisely. Usual success percentage lies somewhere about 0%-3%! You can easily calculate that you need to send about 1000 requests in order to get about 30 new links. It isn’t worth it, but there’s no other way how to get some high PageRank links. I got some PageRank5 and PageRank6 links pointing to my another site using the natural link building strategy.
You should know that people like to link to sites with useful content and useful features. So you can get a lot of links without asking anybody, but these people firstly need to discover your site. And how should you attract these webmasters to visit your website? You simply need the links; Especially natural links.
One thing is sending emails to the webmasters, but there is a question „How to find these potential link partners?“ standing on the second side of the barricade. Generally, you need to find the sites pointing to your competitors, so you’ll be able to handle this campaign very nicely.
I recommend you the following strategy:
- 1) Determine your main keywords,
- 2) Find the sites linking to your top5 competitors in Google,
- 3) Collect their email addresses or contact forms,
- 4) Send only one email to one webmaster, but don’t send mass emails!
As you might feel, if you do the thing above clearly, you should get some benefits from this work. Keep your emails short, but brief. Use informative content, but write them as accurate as they could be. Always ask for a reply, so you will know if they read your emails. Find the links using our backlink checker tool (see the navigation menu), but don’t arrange them by their PageRank. Go step-by-step and open every potential link partner. Some of the webmasters will ask a link back to their site. It isn’t a bad idea at all!
Please note, that natural link building is worth it if only your site is content-rich and if only it offers something unique. Don’t await people linking to your HYIP site, don’t await people linking to ugly sites. What people want, are nice, useful and mostly free-to-use sites. If your site requires a paid registeration, forget about tons of incoming free links. If your site sells something, you should forget about natural links too. What is important these days, is a site which offers everything for free. Offer things for free and use some advertisement on your sites. My next article will be dedicated to AdSense optimisation. You will understand why offering everything for free is much better than asking money for everything.
Doing a natural link buliding campaign isn’t any fun and you could get very disappointed after 2-4 weeks with only 5 new inbound links. But every professional SEO should offer this service. Basically, this work can’t be measured by the number of new links, but it must be measured by the list of sites where a request was sent to.
