How to avoid low paid Google AdSense ads
You have been probably analyzing why your AdSense earnings drop down, or why they don’t increase as your site gets more human visitors. If you can’t solve this problem by yourself, go through this guide and understand the basis.
The major problem which refers to the Google AdSense program is the „MFA problem“. MFA sites are, as the letters say, Made For AdSense. Such sites can’t get natural traffic from search engines, they can’t be ranked well, people don’t like them and so on. So why do they exist? Why people create them?
In order to understand the MFA site, you must take the webmaster and the ‘overnight success’ point of view. Nowadays, it is not possible to break through your web competitors throughout a day or even a week; bringing quality traffic takes months and years of hard work.
The first shift: No overnight success possible. This is very bad for people who are not willing to work hard.
Basically, if there are N of unfair webmasters, they are facing to N/1000 or even less honest ones. However, the advantage lies at honest programmers’ side and major search engines support them. Unfortunately, unfair webmasters found a way how to get visitors immediately after launching a site without any content.
The second shift: Poor, average, stupid, unfair, lazy, … webmasters are using advertisements in order to bring natural traffic to their sites.
The above-mentioned shifts are revealed. The conclusion is easy: Create a MFA site with just a few words on it, create a Google AdWords account as well as Google AdSense one, put the ads code onto your site and buy visitors from other web sites. Naturally, you could ask yourself where is the income. Let’s imagine, a MFA site owner pays amount ‘x1′ to the advertiser once the visitor clicks on the ad leading to the MFA site. When the visitor comes to a site filled with ads only, he/she will probably click on any. Let’s mark earnings from this click as ‘x2′. Then the income can be expressed simply as x2-x1. Of course, we can talk about income if only x2>x1. Otherwise, the MFA site owner will lose.
The above-scheme is very dangerous for all honest ads publishers, since MFA sites may ruin their income and may lead to closure of their sites. Of course, MFA owners will not profit from non-active of closed sites, but they don’t care about other people at all.
How do MFA sites owners reach higher x2 than x1? The principle is very simple, they block other MFA sites from displaying ads on their own web sites. And this is solution for honest webmasters too. Fortunately. In order to avoid MFA sites advertising on your own pages, you should track target URLs and visit your advertisers’ pages by yourself. Bear in mind you shouldn’t click on any ad, since it breaks Google AdSense TOS. Honestly, I did it by mistake and I found out that Google’s algorithms don’t count my own clicks. However, I don’t recommend you to click on your own ads.
What should you do exactly? At first, install AdLogger (link). It is a good tool for tracking clicks; works on servers with PHP+MySQL support. On the other hand, it’s not 100%-ly precise, because it doesn’t count all clicks (doesn’t support Opera browsers, etc.). It’s accurancy varies between 90 and 95 percents. Once it’s configured, put simple AdLogger tracking code to each page which shows Google AdSense ads. Statistics are always up-to-date and you can easily browse them. Well, browsing phpMyAdmin will give you more information than AdLogger’s web interface offers. Anyway, when it’s done, you have nearly won.
When you’re able to view target URLs (it’s not possible to view them for every click!!!), you can visit them in your browser. If they sell products directly, they’re good. If they contain affiliate code, many ads and no useful information, you should block them from displaying on your site. This includes clickbank.net sites and directories with affiliate links only.
Secondly, you should browse your site in order to find what kind of advertisers put ads on it. When you click on the ad with right mouse button, copy the target URL and extract the destination URL from it. Then, open it in a new window. The above-mentioned rules apply here too.
In my experience, you can lower clicks on poor-paid by 80% and more what means increasing your income by two or even more times! In order to help you, I’m attaching sites which should be present in your ‘block list’.
